Two children killed in Pak. firing in Poonch

Two civilians, a 15-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were killed and six injured in fresh ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in the Pir Panchal Valley’s Poonch district on Monday morning.

A police spokesman said Jasmin Akhtar, 15, a resident of Digwar, and Asrar Ahmad, 10, a resident of Mohalla Kasba, died of the splinter injuries as Pakistan fired mortar shells in parts of Poonch along the Line of Control (LoC), especially Digwar area.

The bodies have been shifted to the district hospital, Poonch, for legal formalities,” said the police spokesperson.

Pakistan resorted to firing early in the morning, injuring two in Kerni Sector of Poonch. “In fresh bout of firing by Pakistan at 10:25 a.m., four locals, identified as Mohammad Sajad, Sehima Bi, Zobia Gohar and Tazam Akhter sustained injuries,” said the police.

Infiltration bid foiled in Tanghdar, militant killed

Meanwhile, the Army killed an unidentified militant on the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar Sector, Kupwara, on Monday morning.

According to the police, the soldiers manning the Balthania Post spotted suspicious movement early morning on Monday. A group of infiltrators, believed to be 4 to 5 in number, was entering to this side of the LoC and “were engaged in a gunfight”. “One militant is believed to have been killed in the gunfight.
