Aloud Siren followed by Room televisions getting switched on automatically to inform on the emergency broadcast channel that North Korea has just fired a missile over Japan and letting its citizen know what to do next is what fear Japanese citizens in western part of Japan lives by every time North Koreans fire a missile towards Japan.
Shimane, Hiroshima, and Kochi are few of the Japanese cities which are always on high alert for possible North Korean fired intermediate-range ballistic missile landing in their backyard in case the North’s missiles malfunction while over Japan.
Patriot interceptor missiles, Aegis Ashore missile-defense system and Standard Missile 6 (SM-6) interceptor missiles which are counted among the best in their Anti-Ballistic Missile Defense roles are always on standby to take down any rogue North Koreans missiles which are not expected to fly over Japan.

Japan for long has been living under fear of a Nuclear threat from an unstable neighbor in the region due to which from late 90’s Japanese government has made an incremental investments in development of American made Anti-Ballistic Missile programs like Aegis and SM-6 over the years and also contributed to their research leading to certain level of export rights which Japan has to approve if Americans want to export them .
India on other hand does have a neighbor who has made its state policy to flaunt its Nuclear stockpile has a deterrence to stop India’s conventionally superior armed forces in the region and has ever-growing Ballistic Missile programs of its own which forced India to work on its own multi-layered ballistic missile defence system to protect Indian cities from ballistic missile attacks.
India’s Phase 1 anti-ballistic missile system which involves, Advanced Air Defence (AAD) and Prithvi Defence Vehicle (PDV) interceptor missiles have cleared major trials and are been deployed to protect Countries Captial New Delhi and Countries Commerical Capital Mumbai in event of ballistic missile attacks from Pakistan in event of war.

India also plans to commence development of Phase 2 of its multi-layered ballistic missile defense program, which will see the development of Two new anti-ballistic missiles that can intercept IRBMs with a range over 5000kms.
Both Countries have active anti-ballistic missiles programs and according to prominent people in the government of India, both the countries did agree to explore possible collaboration by both countries to further their anti-ballistic missile systems.
Speculation of possible secret handshake and meetings have been doing rounds but many anticipate that the collaboration between both countries will be only limited to brainstorming between scientists and exchange of research papers which will help and aid development of such systems in both the countries . will it that translate into active collaboration on ground with joint development of some of the components or sharing of technology will have to be seen .
